Jonathan Hayes

Writer / Director

Jonathan is an award-winning director whose decade-long work in film, tv, and commercials has earned recognition both nationally and internationally. Jonathan’s first film was an adaptation of Donald Barthelme’s story “The School.”  The film premiered at the Worldwide Short Film Festival, winning the coveted AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARD.  The film played in competition on the opening day of the SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL, being named by festival programmers as one of 10 must-see films that year.  It has screened in dozens of festivals and aired internationally. Jonathan has directed shorts, documentaries, television and commercials.  He is the recipient of numerous arts and travel grants, winning the Saatchi & Saatchi First Cut Award for his commercial work. A pilot and trailer for CMF-funded doc TAKE ME TO THE RIVER have been produced. ALGONQUIN, starring Mark Rendall, Nicholas Campbell, and Sheila McCarthy, marks his feature film debut as writer/director. He is currently writing his next project, FLOATING WORLD. Jonathan holds a BA (Honours) and MA from McGill University.

Jane Motz Hayes

Jane Motz Hayes is an award-winning, Toronto-based producer of both live action and interactive projects with a decade of experience in film and interactive media. She develops and produces film / tv and interactive content for Berkeley Films Ltd. Her past work has garnered both Audience Choice and Platinum “Best Short Film” Awards. These shorts have screened at festivals around the  globe including Sundance. Her first feature, ALGONQUIN (Jonathan Hayes), was released to critical acclaim in 2013, and has screened at numerous film festivals including the Montreal World Film Festival and TIFF Film Circuit before going on to win the Special Jury Prize / First Feature at WorldFest Houston International Film Festival. Jane works as a digital and user experience strategist with leading agencies creating award-winning web sites, social media marketing strategy, mobile applications and games.
